Session Guide

1. SEND First Classroom

SEND needs are increasing in number and complexity. With reduced time, money and staffing, how do we meet the needs of our children and young people?

Katherine Johnson, Headteacher at Northcott School in Hull brings her understanding of SEND in the local area along with her experiences as an ASD outreach service to offer practical tips for making classrooms more inclusive.

SEND first classrooms will be a practical session thinking about how we can be more inclusive in response to increasing demand.

4. Traffic Light Teachers:
Finding ways to help support teachers when working with children with additional needs

Not all teachers have the natural capacity to work with children with additional needs and some need support.

The Traffic Light system helps us to understand where these needs arise and identify the support which is required. This session will help you identify those teachers who need support and practical ways to support them in your setting

2. Empowering young people to discover their strengths

This interactive session explores how to use a strength-based approach to engage and empower. Impactful stories from real young people will demonstrate the positive impact of using this approach.

You’ll hear the story behind award winning What’s your strength?®  cards and discover how they empower young people to develop self-awareness and discover the brilliance within themselves. You’ll even get the chance to discover some of your own strengths along the way!

After this session you with have real, practical and powerful psychological techniques at your disposal for the rest of your life. Take back control of the controllable's, have more head space and avoid overwhelmed and burn out.
